GRAND FORKS-- Police are searching for a suspect who drove away from a traffic stop and then crashed into a tree Sunday night, Sept. 20.
According to the police department, the incident started shortly after 8 p.m. when an officer attempted to pull over the driver of a tan Ford Explorer in the 1000 block of N 51st Street.
The driver of the car sped away from the stop and the officer followed the car.
After a pursuit lasting several minutes, the driver of the Explorer crashed into a tree in the 3400 block of Gateway Drive.
The driver, who police identified as a man, then ran off on foot into a tree line north of where the crash happened.
K9 officers were brought in to help search the area, but they were unable to locate the suspect.
